Blogger Just Isn't Working Out

Taking my last post as an example:   I wrote it originally in the Blogger Android application, then wanted a picture to include, so I used my Android phone, again running Blogger, to take a picture and include it in the post.

Seems like a simple-enough case, using all Google stuff all the way.   A number of things went wrong.  First, after the initial edit, re-opening the post in blogger shows all kinds of tags.  There appears to be no way to switch between text editing and "html" editing in the Android application.

Next, while the photo uploaded into Picasa just fine, Blogger made hash out of it when scaling it for size.   How hard can it be to find decent image scaling code?

And finally - I'm constantly tripped up by needing two Google accounts.  It appears that one Greg Nichols can't edit the other Greg Nichols' posts.  Maybe they both need to be admins?

I'll fight with this some more, but I suspect I've not yet found atomicspatula.com a suitable home.

Update:  Fixed the picture via Blogger's web interface.

Tablet and Keyboard vs. Notebook

I've heard it said, and said it myself, that if a Tablet requires a keyboard to be useful, then you might as well carry a notebook.   I've been using the tablet-keyboard combo for about a week now, and I'm seeing that this just isn't true for a number of reasons.
I can leave the keyboard home, or on my desk, and carry the tablet around.  This leaves 1/2 the weight and bulk behind.   For casual content consumption, the multi-touch screen is a whole lot nicer than a mouse or a track pad.
I get to pick both pieces separately when I buy them, leaving me with a lot more options.  What if I like the display on a notebook, but the keyboard is not acceptable?   The tablet/keyboard is a more flexible solution all the way around.

Google Nexus 7 Tablet

I've picked up a Google Nexus 7 tablet with the idea of using it for most of my day-to-day personal computing.    These activities are mostly web-browsing, reading/answering e-mail, etc., but I'd also like to do some writing as well.  This is going to require a physical keyboard.  Right now I'm using Apple's little bluetooth keyboard.   I ordered Logitech's Tablet Keyboard for Android, but it arrived with several keys not working, so I've returned it for a replacement.

So far it's been great.  The Nexus runs Android 4.1 (Jellybean), and is missing all the crapware that Verizon and Samsung have forced on my phone.  The size is about perfect - big enough to do real things on, but one-handable.

The only missing piece so far is a good application for writing - something simple and unobtrusive, ideally not a service.  I'm try some things out but still having found the ideal solution.

Seems I'm stuck wwith two Google accounts

One for my phone and g plus. The other for email and blog. There is no way to merge them.

I suppose it's ok.  Since I can move my domain off google apps with out breaking the phone services.

But it seems either the theory or the execution of Google's unified services is broken. Or maybe missing account management tools.  I think their model needs to capture roles within a person (account)

Atomic Spatula Has Moved

Since you're reading this, the move has been somewhat successful.  I'm still trying to manage the baroque nature of all Google's Services.  It's going pretty well, except that I've got two google accounts running now (greg@atomicspatula.com and atomicspatula@gmail.com), and I'm not sure either how or if I should merge them.

Just to be safe, if you want to reach me, use text or voice :-).
